Travis and Holly Hancock at work

Travis & Holly Hancock

Since 2015

Workin' from home
since before it was cool.

We launched our first game, Salem 1692, as a fun side project in spring 2015, hoping to produce a few hundred copies for friends and family. When it went up on Kickstarter it drew far more interest than we expected. We held our breath and started working part time on the next game.

In early 2017 we launched Tortuga 1667 and were again overwhelmed by the support. That let us quit our day jobs — Travis as a digital marketer, Holly as a 4th grade teacher — and start making board games full time. We have now published 8 games and sold almost a million copies.

We're very grateful for the chance to work from home as a family and share our passion for games with the world.

Headquarters

Coming to you from
sunny Dayton, Ohio.

Every Dark Cities book starts here — prototyped on a kitchen table, argued over with friends, and playtested until the rules stop breaking. The city that taught the world to fly turns out to be a fine place to teach a table to lie.
