Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Facade Games is a two-person board game company run by Travis and Holly Hancock out of Ohio. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit facadegames.com — written plainly, because a privacy policy nobody can read isn't much of a policy.

The short version

We collect very little, and we have never sold, rented or traded anyone's information. This website does not take payments, does not have accounts, and does not ask you to log in. The only things you can hand us are your email address, if you want the newsletter, and a message, if you use the contact form.

What we collect, and why

If you sign up for The Ides

We collect your email address. It goes to Brevo, the service that stores our mailing list and sends the newsletter for us. Signup is double opt-in, which means we send you one email asking you to confirm, and you are not added until you click it — so nobody can put you on the list but you.

We use it to send you The Ides, roughly every other month. Every issue has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, one click and you're off. We keep your address until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.

If you use the contact form

We collect your name, your email address, and whatever you write in the message. It is relayed through Brevo to our own inbox so we can reply. We don't add contact form submissions to the newsletter list — those are separate, and signing up is something you have to do deliberately.

When you simply visit

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read and roughly where they came from. It sets cookies and records your IP address. We look at it in aggregate — which games people click on, whether anyone finds the FAQ — and we have no interest in identifying individual visitors. If you'd rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and most browsers can block analytics cookies on their own.

Our host, Vercel, keeps ordinary server logs the way every web host does. Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means Google's font servers see your IP address when a page loads. One blog post embeds a YouTube video, and YouTube sets its own cookies if you play it.

What we don't collect anymore

Facadegames.com used to be a storefront. It isn't now. There is no cart, no checkout, no customer account, and we do not collect or store payment card details, billing addresses or shipping addresses through this website. When you buy one of our games you're buying it from AllPlay, Amazon, or a retailer, on their site under their privacy policy — not ours.

Affiliate links

Facade Games is a participant in the Amazon Associates program. When you follow one of our Amazon links and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon can set cookies to track that the visit came from us. It doesn't change what we recommend — we only ever link to our own games.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We never have and we don't intend to start.

The only companies that touch your data are the ones listed above, doing the jobs we hired them for: Brevo for email, Google for analytics and fonts, Vercel for hosting. Beyond that, we would only disclose information if the law required it — a subpoena, a court order — or if we genuinely needed to in order to protect someone's safety or our own rights.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any issue, or just email us and we'll take care of it.
  • Ask us what we have about you, and we'll tell you.
  • Ask us to delete it, and we will.
  • Opt out of analytics using the add-on above or your browser's own settings.

You don't have to explain why, and asking won't cost you anything. Email travis@facadegames.com.

Children

This website isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, email us and we'll delete it.

Where your data lives

Facade Games operates in the United States, and the services we use store data in the United States. If you're visiting from elsewhere — the EU, the UK, anywhere — your information is transferred here. By using the site or signing up for the newsletter, you're agreeing to that.

Other websites

We link out to a lot of places: retailers, reviewers, our own social accounts. Once you leave facadegames.com you're covered by that site's policy, not this one. It's worth a look before you hand anyone information.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we have your email address, we'll tell you directly rather than making you notice on your own.

How to reach us

Questions about any of this, or about your own information, go to a real person who reads them.
